At Expert Moving & Storage, we provide many long-distance moves to our clients. It is always a joy to see a family or couple start a new life in a new state, but this comes along with the bitter truth that you are always leaving something, or someone, behind. Fortunately, in today’s day and age, there are countless ways to stay in touch with friends and loved ones after a big move. Here are few of our favorites:
- Social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are great ways to keep in touch with loved ones. Sharing photos and updates about your life are a great way for friends to keep track of your move and life in your new home.
- Email: Email is a quick and easy way to send friends photos and updates of your move.
- Texting and phone calls: Probably the most obvious way to stay in contact, picking up your phone and shooting a quick text can mean a lot to those you had to leave behind. There is also nothing better than actually hearing the sound of someone’s voice over the phone.
- Video calls: The internet has several options for video calls such as Skype, Google Hangouts, and FaceTime. Video calls are a much more intimate and fun way to keep in touch with friends and loved ones after moving.
- Plan a trip: Have your friends come visit you in your new home, or go back to visit them at your old home. Sometimes home sickness can only be alleviated by going home. But having friends and family come see you in your new home can also be refreshing if you miss them more than your actual old home.
